Week in Ethereum has ended. Here's why

As a result of a conversation with EF leadership early this year, I announced that the newsletter was deprecated after conversations indicated that they didn't see value in WiE continuing.

Over the rest of 2024, WiE received a miniscule amount of financial support from the Ethereum Foundation. It was mostly symbolic, but EF leadership chose to cut off this tiny bit of support knowing that WiE would immediately end.

There is no clearer way to be told that it's time for WiE to end than EF withdrawing support.

Week in Ethereum had a good run. So many devs over the years have come up to me at conferences and told me WiE made a difference to their Solidity or security careers. They often mentioned that the newsletter convinced them to buy ETH. At one point years ago the ol’ newsletter was upstream of most pro-Ethereum news.

But WiE unfortunately failed to find a business model. Ads/sponsorships were a tough sell as marketing directors do not value devs. My standards are high and it was just too time-consuming to do in a profitable manner.

Thanks to everyone who sponsored, RTd or upvoted along the way. I'll remember that; it meant something to me.
